Training can mould an ordinary man into something altogether more dangerous. Hours devoted to the use of a shield, the slash of a sword, the thrust of a spear. The long, hard tempering of mind and body, learning how to bear up beneath your heavy bronze armour, how to turn in it and how to lunge, how to step in the dance of hand-to-hand combat, so your reflexes will be instant, and your reactions, deadly—all to achieve mastery in the ancient trade of war.
Such was the boyhood and youthful years, I imagine, for the man named Goliath...
